Connecticut-to-California transplant creates entertaining, easygoing hip-hop laced with reggae and R&B. A rapper and producer with an eclectic and sunny style. Felly grew up listening to reggae and hip-hop, and became a serious Bob Marley fan. He was fascinated with the use of sampling, and as he developed a taste for jazz and vintage soul, he focused on how elements of songs could be used to construct new tracks. His first album, Waking Up to Sirens, was released in 2014, and Felly experienced a critical and commercial breakthrough with 2015's This Shit Comes in Waves. In July 2016, Felly released the album Young Fel, which broke him onto the mainstream charts, rising to number 21 on the R&B albums listing. ~ Mark Deming
