Becoming a fan of music at a young age, Young Sam grew up in South Central Los Angeles, a neighborhood that he has referred to as " Trapfornia ". He was born on March 5th, 1989. He would begin to write lyrics at age 12 and was recording at 13. He was apart of a group called HoodLyfe where he used to record in Watts with some friends. He dropped a mixtape called " I'm My Own Enemy " then he began to work to get his own equipment and advance his solo.
